Record breaking results from the Colgate Games

Updated: Jan 24, 2019

These Colgate Games were a standout competition where our athletes really shone.

There were 88 competing clubs from throughout the North Island. Many athletes achieved personal bests and always gave their utmost, some achieving beyond expectations.

13yr old Evie McLennan was in superb condition and peaked well. She won gold in the High Jump,1.68 metres (Club Record, Auckland Record, Residents Record – decision pending), she took out the 80m Hurdles winning gold in spectacular fashion running a PB out in front by 15 metres, Silver in the Long Jump, was part of the bronze medal winning 13yr old girls relay team with 12yr olds Charlize Fleming and Riley Couilaullt with Mia Wayn – Fantastic girls, well done.

Evie won a scholarship from the sponsor to assist with her future in sport, one of 3 normally given out to 14yr olds. She performed really well at the right time.

Video of Evie MacLennan who broke the 13G Papakura Club high jump record with a huge leap of 1.65m.

7 Year old Peyson Mataroa, 1st Long Jump, 2nd 100 metres, 2nd 60 metres

Siobhan Baille creamed the fields with gold medals in the 14 year olds 800m (PB - 2.24 minutes) and 1500m.

The 13yr old boys relay team were at their brilliant best: Riley Tuhimata, Armani Sila, Evan Anderson, and Daniel Murray – Auckland Champions, Counties Manukau Champions, and now North Island Champions. Guys you were just great, slick baton passing made sure three years of working together paid off. Many of our children did “P.B’s”. Check our Facebook page for the full results.

Paige Fletcher a talented 9 year old girl, won the shot by 2 metres - a personal best and unofficial club record. Paige also won the the 60 meters and the discus. Paige and her great talent managed to put a weekend of tremendous performances together.

Rob Ward officiated all three days, driving there and back each day. The parents appreciated all the support the coaches Rob Ward, Richard Kees, John Eade, Brent Booker, Melissa Brearley-Tipene, and Kelly Ihaka-Pitama for their efforts, plus the many ex Counties athletes who helped train the Relay teams.

Eric Sila and Brigette Reid were the managers who made sure everyone was there in the right place. Facebook kept people updated. Our congratulations to these two who tirelessly worked for the good of our children - Eric managed 35 laps of Porritt Stadium sorting out all manner of problems – he’s super fit now.

Thanks to all our athletes and everyone who helped deliver an exceptional Colgate Games for the PAHC.
